The for­mer gen­eral sec­re­tary of the Mu­nic­i­pal­ity of Thes­sa­loniki, Michalis Le­mou­sias, yes­ter­day be­came the sec­ond per­son to be re­manded in cus­tody over the al­leged em­bez­zle­ment of funds. A judge hear­ing the case con­cern­ing the 51.4 mil­lion eu­ros that went miss­ing from the mu­nic­i­pal­ity de­cided that Le­mou­sias should be held af­ter an­other suspect, Panos Sax­o­nis, who was an em­ployee in the ac­count­ing depart­ment, claimed that the ex-gen­eral sec­re­tary helped em­bez­zle funds. Sax­o­nis has been in cus­tody since last year. For­mer Mayor Vas­silis Pa­pa­geor­gopou­los will also stand trial.
