Despite a 40 percent rise in ticket prices at the start of the year, revenues for the public transport companies have not increased by the same amount, suggesting that a clampdown on fare dodging has yet to yield results. The Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) said that revenues from ticket sales had increased by 23.5 percent between March and May. Ticket sales bring in close to 25 million euros a month. These are much-needed funds for OASA, which had an operating loss of 280 million euros last year.
