Stocks drop 6 pct for the week

The Greek bourse fell 0.81 per­cent yes­ter­day on weak bank stocks as the gov­ern­ment’s midterm plan aimed at restor­ing the coun­try’s fis­cal health failed to in­spire buy­ers.

The Athens bourse’s bench­mark gen­eral in­dex ended at 1,252.38 points, fall­ing just over 6 per­cent for the week.

The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 in­dex dropped by 1.12 per­cent to end at 558.39 points.

Banks gave up 2.31 per­cent, led by a 3.06 per­cent drop in Na­tional Bank to 4.75 eu­ros.

Al­pha Bank ended at 3.15 eu­ros, off 3.67 per­cent, and Eurobank EFG re­treated 2.59 per­cent to 3.01 eu­ros.

ATEbank also un­der­per­formed, slip­ping 4.31 per­cent to 1.11 eu­ros.

Con­struc­tion group El­lak­tor ranked among the win­ners, adding 2.19 per­cent to 2.33 eu­ros. Power com­pany PPC firmed 0.31 per­cent to 9.60 eu­ros.

Turnover reached mil­lion eu­ros.
