Two face felony charges after Wednesday disturbances
Two of the 15 people arrested on Wednesday during disturbances in central Athens were charged with felonies including disturbing the peace and covering their faces during a public protest by a prosecutor yesterday. Another 11 detainees were charged with misdemeanors and two more will have to appear in a juvenile court as they were minors. The arrests were made when protesters clashed with police near Parliament. Thousands of people had descended on the city center to attend a demonstration by the so-called Indignant movement and rallies by labor unions that were taking part in a general strike. Four of the 81 policemen injured during the clashes remained in the hospital yesterday.
