The In­te­rior Min­istry has as­sured the Church of Greece that the Cit­i­zen’s Card the gov­ern­ment plans to is­sue will not hold sen­si­tive per­sonal data or dis­play any sym­bolic num­bers or bar codes. Deputy In­te­rior Min­is­ter Gior­gos Do­lios wrote to the Church’s Holy Synod af­ter priests ex­pressed concern about the data that will be stored on the card, which the gov­ern­ment wants cit­i­zens to use when they have to visit pub­lic ser­vices such as tax of­fices to cut down on pa­per­work and speed up the rate at which cit­i­zens are served.
