Four masked gun­men made off with some 100,000 eu­ros yes­ter­day af­ter an armed raid on a group of pri­vate se­cu­rity firm em­ploy­ees who had been due to stock ATM ma­chines near the univer­sity stu­dents’ halls of res­i­dence, east of cen­tral Athens. One of the guards sus­tained mi­nor in­juries when a rob­ber struck him on the head with the butt of his gun. In an­other armed rob­bery in Rendi, north­ern Pi­raeus, four as­sailants armed with Kalash­nikov as­sault ri­fles also es­caped with around 100,000 eu­ros, af­ter hold­ing up butcher shop. The rob­bers fled in a Mercedes be­ing driven by a fifth ac­com­plice.
