The man­age­ment of the Pub­lic Power Cor­po­ra­tion (PPC) said yes­ter­day that it would con­tinue to con­duct power out­ages across the coun­try as an in­creas­ing num­ber of elec­tric­ity plants have be­come sub­op­er­a­tional due to a sec­ond week of strike ac­tion by PPC work­ers and de­mand for power has sky­rock­eted as tem­per­a­tures rise and the use of air-con­di­tion­ing units in­creases. Power out­ages will be car­ried out be­tween 11 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. on main­land Greece, on the south­ern Aegean is­land of Crete be­tween 8.10 p.m. and 10.10 p.m. and on Rhodes be­tween 7.30 p.m. and 10.10 p.m. PPC’s man­age­ment has made a court ap­peal for the ac­tion of the work­ers’ union, GENOP, to be de­clared il­le­gal and abu­sive but there had been no ver­dict is­sued by late yes­ter­day.
