The market is increasingly showing signs of improvement on the employment front, as the latest survey of employers by Manpower found that more (16 percent) expect to increase their staff in the third quarter of the year than those expecting to lay off employees (13 percent). The majority (68 percent) expect no change.

Greek employers further estimate that new hirings will be made in five out of nine economic sectors, as besides tourism they foresee an increase in employment in the financial and insurance sector, in transport and communications, in agriculture and in the public sector and social services. Hiring prospects are increasing in seven more sectors than in the previous quarter of the year and in eight more than in the third quarter of 2012.

Manpower Managing Director Venetia Kousia said that “we now have certain signs that allow us to be somewhat optimistic about the future of the labor market in Greece.”
