Lo­cal stocks re­bound on ERT ver­dict, rise 1.16 pct

The out­come of the court rul­ing on Greece’s state broad­caster cre­ated a rather pos­i­tive mood among in­vestors yes­ter­day, re­sult­ing in gains for most Greek stocks, cov­er­ing most of the losses in­curred dur­ing Mon­day’s ses­sion.

The Athens Ex­change (ATHEX) gen­eral in­dex closed at 918.03 points, adding 1.16 per­cent to Mon­day’s 907.47 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX-25 in­dex grew by 1.63 per­cent to 311.34 points.

Most blue chips reg­is­tered gains at the end of yes­ter­day’s ses­sion, with the ex­cep­tion of banks. Corinth Pipeworks out­per­formed, ex­pand­ing by 5.47 per­cent, fol­lowed by Coca-Cola HBC with 5.45 per­cent and Hel­lenic Ex­changes with 5.10 per­cent, while Pi­raeus Bank gave up 5.41 per­cent and Alpha lost 1.18 per­cent.

In to­tal, 94 stocks posted gains, 37 reg­is­tered losses and 24 re­mained un­changed.

Turnover came to 55 bil­lion eu­ros, up from Mon­day’s 47.2 mil­lion.
