City of Athens to host free events, Thi­seio con­cert

The City of Athens Sym­phonic Orches­tra, fol­lowed by Greek singers Nikos Por­tokaloglou, Iota Nega and Gerasi­mos An­dreatos will see in the New Year in cen­tral Athens tonight. The con­cert is part of a day of free cel­e­bra­tions or­ga­nized by City Hall. There will be live mu­sic and other events in the center of the cap­i­tal from 2 p.m. The City of Athens choir will per­form at Syn­tagma Square, start­ing at 8 p.m., while jazz-fu­sion band Mode Pla­gal will play on Er­mou Street at 9 p.m. The main event will start near Thi­seio elec­tric rail­way sta­tion at 10 p.m. A fire­work show will mark the ar­rival of the New Year.
