Na­tional happy with staff exit

the Na­tional Bank of Greece vol­un­tary exit pro­gram has ex­ceeded ex­pec­ta­tions, as 2,510 em­ploy­ees – about one fifth of the lender’s staff – have en­tered the pro­gram against a plan for just 2,000, NBG an­nounced on Tues­day. The com­ple­tion of the pro­gram is ex­pected to save the group some 150 mil­lion eu­ros per year, it added, stress­ing that ‘the bal­anced dis­tri­bu­tion of staff across all of the bank’s units en­ter­ing the pro­gram as well as the mea­sures taken will al­low for the pub­lic to con­tinue be­ing served un­hin­dered.’ Chair­man Gior­gos Za­nias (right)and Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer Alexan­dros Tourko­lias (left) said in a state­ment to bank em­ploy­ees that ‘we are be­gin­ning from a new start­ing point, given that the prob­lems of the past have mostly been re­solved, but that does not mean it will not take more ef­fort, team­work and de­cent work for more suc­cess,’ while thank­ing the de­part­ing em­ploy­ees for their con­tri­bu­tion to the group’s work.
