Small drop for blue chips be­fore 2013’s fi­nal ses­sion

Greek blue chips posted mod­er­ate losses yes­ter­day af­ter Fri­day’s big gains and have just half a ses­sion left in 2013 as to­day will be a half­day at the Athens bourse, fol­low­ing a year of re­mark­able growth.

The Athens Ex­change (ATHEX) gen­eral in­dex closed at 1,158.03 points, shed­ding 0.62 per­cent from Fri­day’s 1,165.24 points.

The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 also con­tracted by 0.62 per­cent to end at 386.24 points, but the mid-cap in­dex inched up 0.14 per­cent and small-caps grew by 0.43 per­cent.

Fri­go­glass stood out among the blue chips, ex­pand­ing by 2.14 per­cent, while El­lak­tor gave up 3.07 per­cent and Marfin In­vest­ment Group de­clined 2.84 per­cent.

In to­tal 63 stocks posted gains, 79 suf­fered losses and 24 re­mained un­changed.

Turnover amounted to 88.2 mil­lion eu­ros, down from Fri­day’s 109.7 mil­lion.
