Mid-caps and Terna En­ergy steal show in week’s last day of trade

A strong show­ing by mid-caps dur­ing yes­ter­day’s bourse ses­sion off­set the losses posted by blue chips and helped the lo­cal bench­mark end the day with mar­ginal gains.

The ATHEX gen­eral in­dex closed at 1,205.51 points, adding 0.05 per­cent to Thurs­day’s 1,204.96 points. On a weekly ba­sis it gained 3.46 per­cent. The large­cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 con­tracted 0.43 per­cent to end at 396.52 points, but mid-caps ex­panded by 1.28 per­cent.

Terna En­ergy out­per­formed with gains of 9.05 per­cent, while Pi­raeus Bank dropped 2.58 per­cent.

In to­tal 84 stocks went up, 48 headed south and 17 stayed put.

Turnover amounted to 40.2 mil­lion eu­ros, down from Thurs­day’s 57.1 mil­lion.

The mar­ket will re­open on Tues­day, af­ter the Epiphany hol­i­day on Mon­day.
