Court says Sakkas did not vi­o­late re­stric­tions

An­ar­chist Costas Sakkas, 30, was yes­ter­day cleared of charges that he vi­o­lated his re­stricted res­i­dence or­der. Sakkas, who is ac­cused of be­ing a mem­ber of the Con­spir­acy of the Cells of Fire ur­ban guer­rilla group, was ar­rested on Tues­day. Po­lice said that Sakkas had spent the night at a friend’s house in Neo Psy­chico, north­ern Athens, where he was ar­rested, ap­par­ently vi­o­lat­ing an or­der that re­stricted him to spend­ing the night at his fam­ily’s res­i­dence in Pi­raeus. An Athens mis­de­meanors court yes­ter­day ruled that the stay over did not con­sti­tute a vi­o­la­tion of the or­ders. Sakkas de­nies be­ing a mem­ber of Con­spir­acy of the Cells of Fire.
