Stocks re­main on up­ward tra­jec­tory

While some in­vestors cashed in their stock gains racked up in pre­vi­ous days, the up­ward mo­men­tum at the lo­cal bourse con­tin­ued un­abated yes­ter­day, with 2014 hav­ing only seen ses­sions of growth for the bench­mark in­dex.

The ATHEX gen­eral in­dex closed at 1,289.98 points to reg­is­ter yet an­other 30-month high, adding 0.83 per­cent to Wed­nes­day’s 1,279.41 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 ex­panded 0.90 per­cent to end at 424.22 points.

The OPAP gam­ing com­pany and Pub­lic Power Cor­po­ra­tion led blue chips with re­spec­tive gains of 3.76 per­cent and 3.50 per­cent. Terna En­ergy grew by 2.61 per­cent. Eurobank Prop­er­ties de­clined by 2.82 per­cent and Fri­go­glass gave up 2.50 per­cent.

In to­tal 99 stocks were gain­ers, with 42 losers and 26 non-movers.

Turnover amounted to 119.2 mil­lion eu­ros, down from Wed­nes­day’s 149.6 mil­lion.
