> Athens > January 21 As part of its “Talks and Thoughts” cycle, the Onassis Cultural Center is hosting a discussion between noted C.P. Cavafy translator Daniel Mendelsohn and Dimitris Papanikolaou, associate professor of Modern Greek studies at the University of Oxford. One of America’s best-loved critics and the award-winning author of “The Lost: A Search for Six of Six Million,” Mendelsohn has translated the entire oeuvre of Cavafy’s poetry, including the Alexandrian’s “unfinished” works. His visit comes in celebration of the Onassis Center’s acquisition of the Cavafy archives 150 years after the poet’s birth. The evening will be devoted to the continuing – and contested – legacy of Cavafy’s work. The event takes place on Tuesday, January 21, starting at 7 p.m. Entrance to the event is free, with tickets distributed one hour prior to the event on a first-come, first-served basis.
