Students lash out against education overhaul
is seen outside Parliament in central Athens yesterday, during a rally against education reforms. Thousands of middle- and highschool students marched in Athens and Thessaloniki to protest changes promoted by the conservative-led administration, which they say will increase the need for extra classes at private tuition centers. Action was organized mainly via Facebook and other social media. Meanwhile, sit-in demonstrations have paralyzed about 30 percent of schools in Western Greece, while more than 45 schools remained closed in Crete.
