> Athens > To March 1 The Be­naki Mu­seum in Athens presents “Friends and Pa­trons of El Greco in Toledo,” an ex­hi­bi­tion mark­ing 400 years since the death of Domenikos Theotokopou­los. Run­ning to March 1, 2015, the show fo­cuses on the in­tel­lec­tu­als, pri­vate col­lec­tors and pa­trons who in­spired and sup­ported El Greco in Toledo, Spain. The ex­hi­bi­tion fea­tures archival ma­te­rial from Toledo (Archivo Mu­nic­i­pal de Toledo, Archivo Provin­cial de Toledo, Bi­b­lioteca de Castil­laLa Man­cha) and Madrid (Archivo His­torico de Pro­to­co­los de Madrid), manuscripts and books from the Na­tional Li­brary of Spain, as well as four por­traits painted by the Cre­tan-born master from the col­lec­tions of the Museo del Prado, the Museo del Greco in Toledo and a pri­vate col­lec­tion in London.
