Nearly one in two Greeks do not trust the country’s political system and the majority are not satisfied with their living conditions or jobs, according to a new survey whose results were released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) yesterday.

The survey, which was conducted on 7,349 households during the course of 2013, found that 45 percent of Greeks do not trust the political system while 19.2 percent have no faith in the country’s judiciary and 12.5 percent said they mistrust the police force.

Only 5.1 percent of respondents said they were satisfied with their lives in general and just 5 percent of employed Greeks said they were happy with their jobs.
