Sell­ers have the last laugh in bourse ses­sion

The last hourof trad­ing on the Greek bourse yes­ter­day gen­er­ated sig­nif­i­cant losses for the majority of stocks de­spite as­sur­ances by the fi­nance min­is­ter that progress was be­ing made in talks with the coun­try’s cred­i­tors.

The Athens Ex­change (ATHEX) gen­eral in­dex closed at 962.05 points, shed­ding 2.83 per­cent from Mon­day’s 990.11 points. The large­cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 in­dex con­tracted 2.81 per­cent to 312.27 points.

Most blue chips ended in the red, with Vio­halco los­ing 6.09 per­cent and Pub­lic Power Cor­po­ra­tion giv- ing up 5.33 per­cent. Jumbo kept ris­ing, adding 1.47 per­cent.

In to­tal 47 stocks rose, 55 dropped and 19 stayed put. Turnover came to 131.6 mil­lion euros from Mon­day’s 73.2 mil­lion, in­clud­ing HOL’s share trans­fer from In­tra­com to Voda­fone worth 62.5 mil­lion euros.
