Noose tightens around Bako gang
Albert Bako, the 31-year-old Albanian arrested on Wednesday following a shooting in Piraeus over the weekend, is believed to be a member of a gang involving at least seven criminals, according to Greek police.
Police arrested another Albanian man yesterday in Sepolia, western Athens, who is believed to be an accomplice of Bako’s. The suspect is thought to have carried out a series of contract killings.
On Wednesday, police arrested a 23-yearold Albanian renting the apartment in Goudi where officers located Bako. He has been charged with harboring a criminal. The brother of the 23-year-old, who is currently in prison in Patra, is said to have told the rest of the gang to provide Bako with shelter until he finds a way to leave the country.
