Noose tight­ens around Bako gang

Al­bert Bako, the 31-year-old Al­ba­nian ar­rested on Wed­nes­day fol­low­ing a shoot­ing in Pi­raeus over the week­end, is be­lieved to be a mem­ber of a gang in­volv­ing at least seven crim­i­nals, ac­cord­ing to Greek po­lice.

Po­lice ar­rested another Al­ba­nian man yes­ter­day in Se­po­lia, western Athens, who is be­lieved to be an ac­com­plice of Bako’s. The sus­pect is thought to have car­ried out a se­ries of con­tract killings.

On Wed­nes­day, po­lice ar­rested a 23-yearold Al­ba­nian rent­ing the apart­ment in Goudi where of­fi­cers lo­cated Bako. He has been charged with har­bor­ing a crim­i­nal. The brother of the 23-year-old, who is cur­rently in prison in Pa­tra, is said to have told the rest of the gang to pro­vide Bako with shel­ter un­til he finds a way to leave the coun­try.
