A 55-year-old re­tired po­lice­man un­der­went ques­tion­ing by an Athens pros­e­cu­tor yesterday af­ter he and three ac­com­plices were ac­cused of forc­ing a group of Bangladeshi na­tion­als to hand over cash and valu­ables while pos­ing as po­lice of­fi­cers on two oc­ca­sions in less than a week. The first rob­bery took place in the Bangladeshi men’s apart­ment in the down­town neigh­bor­hood of Aghios Pan­telei­monas on July 30. The gang al­legedly told their vic­tims they were po­lice of­fi­cers and searched the home, mak­ing off with 872 eu­ros in cash and a lap­top. They al­legedly re­turned two days later in a bid to get more money from the Bangladeshi men, who sus­pected a ruse and called the po­lice. The 55-year-old is al­ready un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion for re­lated crimes.
