Air-traf­fic con­trollers to walk out from 2 to 6 p.m.

The union rep­re­sent­ing Greece’s air-traf­fic con­trollers is to go ahead with a four-hour walk­out to­day and has warned of fur­ther ac­tion un­less a bill fore­see­ing the adop­tion of Euro­pean Union reg­u­la­tions gov­ern­ing work­ing con­di­tions, la­bor rights and ad­min­is­tra­tive is­sues is sub­mit­ted in Par­lia­ment. The walk­out, from 2 to 6 p.m., may cause flight de­lays. Union­ists have also threat­ened another two four-hour walk­outs on Au­gust 14 if their de­mands are not met. The coun­try’s civil avi­a­tion au­thor­ity will be at risk of be­ing “down­graded” un­less there is an ad­min­is­tra­tive over­haul, the union said. It also warned of reper­cus­sions for la­bor rights as well as op­er­a­tional and na­tional is­sues.
