Ministers and MPs to have their incomes reduced
MPs will have their tax breaks withdrawn, while ministers and the heads of public organizations will see their wages reduced, according to a law that is to be drafted by the government. It was decided at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras yesterday that the ‘political system has to respond to public sentiment,’ government sources said. MPs are currently only taxed on 75 percent of their income. Also, the payment they earn from committee appearances are taxfree. Ministers’ wages will be reduced by 15 percent.
