Bri­tish bar­tender bailed

A 23-year-old bar­man ac­cused of de­liv­er­ing the punch that led to a teenage fel­low Bri­ton los­ing his life on Crete was granted bail on the is­land yesterday. The 18-year-old was found dead in his room in the re­sort of Sissi on Thurs­day af­ter a night out with friends in the pop­u­lar town of Malia. A post­mortem found that the young­ster, who has not been named, suf­fered se­ri­ous head in­juries. Po­lice be­lieve that he be­came em­broiled in an ar­gu­ment with the bar­man, who punched him. The 18-year-old had al­legedly been drink­ing with friends and author­i­ties be­lieve he may have hit his head on the ground when he was felled by the bar­man’s punch. The 23-year-old was or­dered to post 20,000 eu­ros in bail and to re­main in Greece pend­ing trial. He also has to ap­pear at his lo­cal po­lice precinct on the 1st and 15th of each month.
