The Aqua­world Aquar­ium on Crete fea­tures dis­plays of lo­cal seal­ife and rep­tiles from around the world, in­clud­ing snakes, tur­tles and oc­to­puses. Visi­tors are not only al­lowed to in­ter­act with the an­i­mals, but are en­cour­aged to pet and hold them. Lo­cated in the port of Her­sonis­sos on the north­east­ern coast of the is­land, the aquar­ium is open ev­ery day through Oc­to­ber 31 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ad­mis­sion costs 6 eu­ros for adults and 4 eu­ros for chil­dren.
