Gas­troen­teri­tis out­break.

Health author­i­ties in Halkidiki, north­ern Greece, are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the po­ten­tial causes of dozens of cases of gas­troen­teri­tis in re­cent days, par­tic­u­larly in the Kas­san­dra area. Ac­cord­ing to staff in­ves­ti­gat­ing the out­break, the ma­jor­ity of the cases were re­ported in the area of Fourka beach. “There is no prob­lem with the wa­ter as ir­ri­ga­tion and tanks were checked a few days ago,” the deputy mayor of Kas­san­dra, Vas­silis Staki­nis, told Athens-Macedonian News Agency, adding how­ever that sam­ples of wa­ter had been taken from homes in the area and sent for test­ing at state lab­o­ra­to­ries as a pre­ven­tive mea­sure.
