A tremor mea­sur­ing 3.9 on the Richter scale rat­tled the ar­eas of Ier­ape­tra and Makris Yia­los in south­east­ern Crete, at 7.55 a.m. on Satur­day, the Geo­dy­namic In­sti­tute in Athens re­ported. No in­juries or dam­age were re­ported fol­low­ing the tremor, whose epi­cen­ter was lo­cated at sea, some 70 kilo­me­ters south of Ier­ape­tra. This was the sec­ond quake to hit the area on Satur­day, af­ter a 3.4 mag­ni­tude quake oc­curred at 5.45 a.m. A 4.6 Richter quake was reg­is­tered in the same area last Thurs­day.
