Mixed sig­nals from in­dices

Eco­nomic sen­ti­ment in Greece posted a re­bound last month but con­sumer sen­ti­ment con­tin­ued to drop, ac­cord­ing to the monthly sur­vey of the Foun­da­tion for Eco­nomic and In­dus­trial Re­search (IOBE).

The eco­nomic sen­ti­ment in­dex rose to 83.1 points in Septem­ber from 75.2 points in Au­gust and 81.3 points in July.

Septem­ber also saw an im­prove­ment in IOBE’s Busi­ness Ex­pec­ta­tions In­dex and the Mark­it­com­piled Pro­cure­ment Man­agers In­dex,

How­ever, IOBE’s con­sumer sen­ti­ment in­dex dropped its the low­est point of the last three years last month, mi­nus 64.2 points, while anal­y­sis of the Pro­cure­ment Man­agers In­dex data showed that the vol­ume of or­ders in the man­u­fac­tur­ing sec­tor went down in Septem­ber for the 13th con­sec­u­tive month, along with the num­ber of peo­ple em­ployed in man­u­fac­tur­ing.
