Weekly rise of 6 pct for lo­cal stocks

Stocks were split down the mid­dle be­tween win­ners and losers yesterday at the end of another ses­sion of thin trad­ing in Athens. Nev­er­the­less, the bench­mark still posted weekly gains of 6.14 per­cent while the banks in­dex added 33.08 per­cent in the same pe­riod.

The Athens Ex­change (ATHEX) gen­eral in­dex closed at 676.93 points, shed­ding 0.17 per­cent from Thurs­day’s 678.05 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 in­dex edged up 0.03 per­cent to end at 200.80 points, but small-caps gave up 1.15 per­cent.

Banks rose 1.94 per­cent, with Eurobank grow­ing 4.35 per­cent and Al­pha ris­ing 2.80 per­cent. Con­struc­tion group El­lak­tor climbed 2.87 per­cent, while Mo­tor Oil fell 3.83 per­cent and Gri­valia Prop­er­ties con­ceded 3.27 per­cent.

In to­tal 41 stocks went up, 41 de­creased and 16 stayed un­changed.

Turnover amounted to 26.6 mil­lion eu­ros, down from Thurs­day’s 37.2 mil­lion.
