Hospital books under inspection
Health inspectors are to begin extensive checks on public hospitals with the aim of uncovering possible overcharging for supplies, it was revealed yesterday.
The head of the Body of Inspectors for Health and Welfare Services (SEYYP), Stavros Evangelatos, received instructions from the government yesterday to track down cases of corruption in public healthcare. Among the items that the inspectors will be looking out for are filters for dialysis machines and radiopharmaceuticals. The inspectors have also been told to inspect equipment purchased by state hospitals but not yet used.
