Trial adjourned until Nov 4
The Golden Dawn trial was adjourned yesterday until November 4 after judge Maria Lepenioti rejected a request by a lawyer representing the neoNazi party MP Christos Pappas for one of the witnesses to be remanded in custody until the end of the trial. Lawyers representing the defendants attempted to cast doubt on the evidence given for a second day by Dimitris Melachrinopoulos, a friend of murdered rapper Pavlos Fyssas. Pappas’s lawyer went as far as claiming that Melachrinopoulos, who witnessed the deadly knife attack on Fyssas by Golden Dawn member Giorgos Roupakias, was guilty of perjury. The judge, however, rejected his call and said that the court was not in a position at the moment to make such a judgment.
