Bank­rupt­cies down in 2014

The num­ber of cor­po­rate bank­rupt­cies posted a 15.8 per­cent de­cline last year from 2013, ac­cord­ing to data is­sued by the ICAP Group for the Greek mar­ket.

In to­tal 330 com­pa­nies went bank­rupt last year in Greece, against 392 in 2013, with the 15.8 per­cent drop be­ing the sec­ond big­gest among the 17 Euro­pean coun­tries mon­i­tored, af­ter Spain.

Col­lec­tively, the five Euro­pean Union coun­tries most hurt by the financial cri­sis – Por­tu­gal, Italy, Ire­land, Greece and Spain – ob­served a 5.8 per­cent de­cline in the num­ber of bank­rupt­cies last year com­pared with 2013, the first an­nual de­cline since the out­break of the cri­sis.
