A municipal police officer writes a fine in Athens yesterday as the force returned to the streets of the capital following a two-year hiatus. The force was disbanded in 2013 under the conservative-led coalition of Antonis Samaras, prompting an outcry and leading to a significant loss of revenue. Fines collected by the city from illegal parking dropped from around 13 million euros in 2011 to 6 million euros last year, according to Deputy Mayor Antonis Kafetzopoulos.
