Chi­nese and Greek flags flut­ter in Tianan­men Square

Out­side the For­bid­den City on Tianan­men Square, Chi­nese and Greek flags flut­ter on a lamp post on Satur­day dur­ing an of­fi­cial visit by Greek Prime Min­is­ter Alexis Tsipras to Bei­jing. Tsipras, who has said Greece aims to be­come ‘real strate­gic part­ners’ with China, was ac­com­pa­nied on his visit by sev­eral min­is­ters and a del­e­ga­tion of around 40 Greek en­trepreneurs. On his ar­rival in Bei­jing, Tsipras re­ferred on Twit­ter to ‘a sig­nif­i­cant visit for the im­prove­ment of Greek-Chi­nese re­la­tions on the po­lit­i­cal and fi­nan­cial level.’
