Two of three suspects arrested after allegedly holding up a supermarket and threatening to shoot at police officers on Monday afternoon in the Athens neighborhood of Ambelokipi are wanted for other crimes, investigators said yesterday. The three men reportedly entered a Sklavenitis supermarket on busy Panormou Street shortly after 7 p.m. on Monday and threatened cashiers with guns. They were trying to make off in a taxi after taking an unspecified amount of cash from the tills when they were pursued by motorcycle-riding DIAS officers. Two of the suspects aimed their weapons at the officers, who opened fire, injuring one of the suspects in the stomach. The latter claims to be Palestinian and is currently being treated at an Athens hospital. The other two were also wanted for robbery and drug-related offenses.
