Two of three sus­pects ar­rested af­ter al­legedly hold­ing up a su­per­mar­ket and threat­en­ing to shoot at po­lice of­fi­cers on Mon­day af­ter­noon in the Athens neigh­bor­hood of Am­be­lokipi are wanted for other crimes, in­ves­ti­ga­tors said yes­ter­day. The three men re­port­edly en­tered a Sklaveni­tis su­per­mar­ket on busy Panor­mou Street shortly af­ter 7 p.m. on Mon­day and threat­ened cashiers with guns. They were try­ing to make off in a taxi af­ter tak­ing an un­spec­i­fied amount of cash from the tills when they were pur­sued by mo­tor­cy­cle-rid­ing DIAS of­fi­cers. Two of the sus­pects aimed their weapons at the of­fi­cers, who opened fire, in­jur­ing one of the sus­pects in the stom­ach. The lat­ter claims to be Pales­tinian and is cur­rently be­ing treated at an Athens hospital. The other two were also wanted for rob­bery and drug-re­lated of­fenses.
