The Byzan­tine and Chris­tian Mu­seum in Athens presents “The State Her­mitage Mu­seum: Gate­way to His­tory,” an ex­hi­bi­tion of works from the per­ma­nent col­lec­tions of the renowned Saint Peters­burg mu­seum. The ex­hi­bi­tion opens on Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 2, and runs through Fe­bru­ary 26, 2017. Go­ing on dis­play are 80 works, rang­ing from an­cient ar­ti­facts to paint­ings and sculp­tures, in­clud­ing mas­ter­pieces such as El Greco’s painting of the Apos­tles Peter and Paul and Au­guste Rodin’s Cupid and Psy­che. The ex­hi­bi­tion is tak­ing place within the “Russian Year in Greece and the Greek Year in Rus­sia” frame­work of events run­ning in both coun­tries this year.
