A group of 280 Greeks who were stranded in the Turk­ish coastal town of Ay­va­lik on Thurs­day evening were ex­pected to re­turn to Myti­lene, Lesvos, yes­ter­day. The group had ar­rived for a day trip to visit a lo­cal bazaar. How­ever, the ves­sel that was sched­uled to take them back to Lesvos, the Turkey-reg­is­tered Ay­segul, was con­fis­cated on Thurs­day by the Turk­ish au­thor­i­ties for debts to the state. A Greek ves­sel, Lesvos, de­parted from Myti­lene late Thurs­day in or­der to bring the Greek trav­el­ers back home.
