The Greek stock­mar­ket was quiet yes­ter­day as many chose to sit out the ses­sion, pre­fer­ring in­stead to await the re­sults of the US elec­tion. The ma­jor­ity of stocks made small gains on par­tic­u­larly low trad­ing vol­ume.

The Athens Ex­change (ATHEX) gen­eral in­dex closed at 582.20 points, adding 0.28 per­cent to Mon­day’s 580.57 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 in­dex ex­panded 0.34 per­cent to 1,536.83 points.

Aegean Air led the blue chips, with 2.13 per­cent growth, ahead of Folli Fol­lie (up 1.57 per­cent) and EYDAP (1.48 per­cent). Vio­halco de­clined 1.56 per­cent, Gri­valia Prop­er­ties sur­ren­dered 1.10 per­cent and Pi­raeus Port Au­thor­ity shrank 1.02 per­cent.

Banks had a mixed day, with Pi­raeus ris­ing 0.68 per­cent and Eurobank shed­ding 0.77 per­cent.

In to­tal, 46 stocks re­ported gains, 35 reg­is­tered losses and 30 closed un­changed.

Turnover amounted to 24.9 mil­lion eu­ros, down from Mon­day’s 40 mil­lion.

For­eign traders in­creased their share of the Greek mar­ket’s to­tal cap­i­tal­iza­tion for a fifth con­sec­u­tive month, as in Oc­to­ber they ac­counted for 62.7 per­cent, up from 61.8 per­cent at the end of Septem­ber.

The gen­eral in­dex of the Cyprus Stock Ex­change in Ni­cosia de­creased 0.63 per­cent to close at 66.27 points.
