Ser­vices to be dis­rupted as work­ers protest aus­ter­ity

Rolling strikes by pub­lic trans­port work­ers over cut­backs are to cause dis­rup­tion over the com­ing days with no ser­vices to­day on the Athens metro and tram be­fore 10 a.m. and no ser­vice on the elec­tric rail­way (ISAP) be­tween noon and 4 p.m. On Mon­day, Novem­ber 21, there will be no ser­vice be­fore 10 a.m. on ISAP. On Tues­day, Novem­ber 22, there will be no ser­vice on the metro and tram be­tween noon and 4 p.m. On Thurs­day, Novem­ber 24, there will be no ser­vice on ISAP after 9 p.m. Trans­port dis­rup­tion is ex­pected to con­tinue through Novem­ber as work­ers protest the gov­ern­ment’s pri­va­ti­za­tion plans and de­mand job se­cu­rity.
