A 4.7 Richter earth­quake hit the town of Kilkis, in north­ern Greece, early on Satur­day. Ac­cord­ing to the Athens Geo­dy­namic In­sti­tute, the tremor’s epi­cen­ter was lo­cated 18 kilo­me­ters west of the town. Sev­eral af­ter­shocks fol­lowed the ini­tial tremor, though there were no re­ports of in­juries or dam­age.
