An anti-establishment group has claimed responsibility for the fire bomb attack on a police station in Exarchia, central Athens, last Tuesday, on the day of the visit to Greece by US President Barack Obama. In a statement posted online, the group, which calls itself “Solidarity with Kostas Sakkas,” denounced the government for welcoming Obama, the “the killer of peoples,” as a “hero” and for the ban on demonstrations in Athens during his stay, turning Athens into a “police fort.” Kostas Sakkas is a jailed member of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire urban guerrilla group.
