Athens to get 2 new flyovers
More than 10 years after the Athens Olympics, the government plans to realize two major road projects that had formed part of pre-Games infrastructure works but were shelved.
Alternate Economy and Development Minister Alexis Haritsis announced the two pre-Olympic road projects yesterday.
The plans are for two flyovers for the capital’s Kifissias Avenue, one at the junction with Alexandras Avenue and the second at the junction with Ethnikis Antistaseos in Halandri, at a total budget of 44.5 million euros. Workers at the General Hospital of Nafplio, in the Peloponnese, are seen transporting a ‘victim’ during an earthquake drill yesterday. The exercise was carried out with the participation of the EKAV emergency medical assistance service and the Fire Brigade. Greece lies in a highly earthquake-prone zone.
