Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has revisited the Lausanne Treaty of 1923, which set the modern borders between Greece and Turkey, saying that it is not something that can’t be discussed. “In no way is it a sacred text, and of course we will discuss it,” he said, according to Turkish news site A Haber. Erdogan’s recent repeated references to the Lausanne Treaty have raised eyebrows in Athens. Last month he bemoaned the treaty as “unfair” on Turkey which, he said, lost islands that “used to be ours.”
