In­ter­na­tional forger nabbed

A 39-year-old An­glo-Su­danese man ar­rested in Athens last week as part of a joint op­er­a­tion by Greek po­lice and Europol was a mem­ber of an in­ter­na­tional forgery ring that was un­rav­eled in May, au­thor­i­ties said yes­ter­day.

Mo­hamed A., also known as Ageep, was nabbed af­ter a stake­out by po­lice out­side a pass­port forgery work­shop in Kypseli. The sus­pect told po­lice he ar­rived in Athens to re­place a 40-year-old forger from Su­dan, Taha S., af­ter his ar­rest May.

Mo­hamed A. was ar­rested in an op­er­a­tion code-named Er­mis af­ter po­lice re­ceived in­for­ma­tion he was in­volved in the traf­fick­ing of un­doc­u­mented mi­grants to the UK.
