The coordinating committee of Greece’s unions of notaries yesterday said that its members would not be attending weekly home foreclosure auctions today, continuing a boycott that began in early October. In its statement the committee said that it will, however, allow some auctions to go ahead if permission is applied for by notaries. These include auctions aimed at collecting alimony or unpaid wages and those concerning assets other than residences, among others. Notaries are opposing the auctioning of homes as a means of collecting individual debts to the state and have held several protest rallies outside courthouses around the country to block the process.
