Brazil pays last re­spects to Greek am­bas­sador

The late Greek am­bas­sador to Brazil, Kyr­i­akos Amiridis, is to be buried in his na­tive Thes­sa­loniki fol­low­ing the re­turn of his body from Rio de Janeiro late on Tues­day. Brazil­ian author­i­ties con­ducted a cer­e­mony at Rio’s in­ter­na­tional air­port for Amiridis, who was mur­dered by his Brazil­ian wife’s lover ac­cord­ing to po­lice. The mur­der sus­pect, a Brazil­ian po­lice of­fi­cer, has con­fessed to mur­der­ing Amiridis, ac­cord­ing to in­ves­ti­ga­tors. The charred body of Amiridis, 59, was found in a car in Nova Iguacu, a city near Rio de Janeiro, at the end of De­cem­ber.
