The Athens Con­ser­va­tory is cur­rently host­ing “Fly­ing Over the Abyss,” an ex­hi­bi­tion of works by lo­cal and in­ter­na­tional artists in­flu­enced and in­spired by “Asce­sis: The Saviors of Gods,” a series of spir­i­tual ex­er­cises penned by Nikos Kazantza­kis. The ac­claimed Cre­tan author’s orig­i­nal man­u­script is also on dis­play. Par­tic­i­pat­ing artists in­clude Ma­rina Abramovic, Alexis Akrithakis, Matthew Bar­ney, Louise Bour­geois, Vlas­sis Ca­niaris, Stavros Gas­paratos, Gil­bert & Ge­orge, Mike Kel­ley, Martin Kip­pen­berger, Costas Tso­clis, Sher­rie Levine, Bruce Nau­man and Gary Webb. The ex­hi­bi­tion is or­ga­nized by cul­tural or­ga­ni­za­tion NEON. Open­ing hours are Wed­nes­days, Thurs­days and Fri­days from noon to 8 p.m. and Satur­days and Sun­days from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The ex­hi­bi­tions runs through Jan­uary 29.
