Parthenon Film Fes­ti­val

For the third sum­mer in a row, the beau­ti­ful moun­tain vil­lage of Parthenonas in north­ern Greece’s Halkidiki re­gion will host a film fes­ti­val fea­tur­ing Greek, Amer­i­can, Swedish and French cinema clas­sics. Among them is the Ni­co­las Kolovos’s 2015 short “Fig,” Jac­ques Demy’s 1964 ro­man­tic mu­si­cal “The Um­brel­las of Cher­bourg” (French), star­ring Cather­ine Deneuve and Nino Castel­n­uovo, and the 1985 Amer­i­can ro­man­tic fan­tasy com­edy “The Pur­ple Rose of Cairo,” writ­ten and di­rected by Woody Allen. The films will all be screened out­doors un­der the night sky in the vil­lage’s main square, start­ing at 9.30 p.m., and will have Greek sub­ti­tles. Ad­mis­sion is free.
