The Aqua­world Aquar­ium on Crete features dis­plays of lo­cal ma­rine life and rep­tiles from around the world, in­clud­ing snakes, tur­tles and oc­to­puses. Vis­i­tors are not only al­lowed to in­ter­act with the an­i­mals, but are en­cour­aged to pet and hold them. Lo­cated in the port of Her­sonis­sos on the north­east­ern coast of the is­land, the aquar­ium is open ev­ery day through Oc­to­ber 31 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ad­mis­sion costs 6 euros for adults and 4 euros for chil­dren.
